The time of summer vacations is slowly coming to an end. You can only look back at the past summer and say goodbye to it with a tear in your eye, even though this summer might be dubbed “another April”. It arrived with a wave of heat at around thirty degrees, which allowed only the most seasoned ones to function. Most people went to the waterside or forest instead. In the editorial office, we cooled our heads with wet towels at least. But then our darling summer induced many of us to a state of shock when it brought about the cooldown overnight. Raindrops fell from the sky and did terrible damage in some parts of the country.
It may not surprise then that Africa is the main theme of this issue. You should be aware of the fact that the floods and heat strokes in these parts cannot compare to the disasters down there. It is hard to imagine that it should be tens of degrees warmer still, as it is in the deserts, or that you should be hit by a natural disaster that would rob you of everything and a poor government would have no way of helping you. Nonetheless, there have been enough disasters this summer; so we at ESTATE would like to make your last days of this departing summer pleasant not only with an article about Africa, but also other texts on design, architecture and lifestyle.
Have a nice reading!
