March 2010

Although it may not seem so, winter should end in March to be succeeded with spring. This year’s winter was really well done. I have never seen so much snow in the Czech Republic before. I think winter sports enthusiasts had their fill. And those who prefer sun and warmth are counting down the last minutes before spring arrives.

Personally, I must say that this year, the transition to a new season will be very difficult for me. After the long winter, I am now used to being muffled up in my coat, barely poking my nose out. I was the happiest with my book and a cup of hot tea at home, or going to the nearest café with a hot drink with friends at most. Visiting warm restaurant facilities, I realised that I saw the same menus and drinks everywhere all the time. That is why we have decided to dedicate this March issue of Estate magazine to exotic cuisines and national culinary specialities. Why, what better time for planning trips and journeys to faraway countries, so much associated with tasting local specialities, than spring time?

I cannot wait to see the first spring sunrise: you always start overflowing with ideas. What I love the most is walks through Prague as it is waking up. That is why we bring you another part of our series on exclusive quarters of Prague, which may be used not only as a tip for nice living, but a recommendation for a pleasant walk that will nicely stretch that body of yours, all stiff after doing nothing all winter.

I wish you a nice reading and pleasant waking from hibernation.
